I Feel Like I’m Losing Half Of My Culture? What Do I Do?

I’m half Japanese, half New Zealand European. I live in NZ now, and slowly, my Japanese has become worse. I can speak Japanese, but to an extent. I’ve tried studying, but I always have other things to do, and my mum never really helps me with my Japanese. I’ve been begging them to let me go to Japan as an exchange student, and they said, ok we’ll see about that. Now they’re saying no, it”ll interrupt your studying and NCEA (I’m in year 11 now). They said maybe we could all go as a family when I’m in year 13 but i DON’T want to go as a family, I want to go in year 12 by MYSELF and get fluent at Japanese, the sooner the better. but they don’t seem to understand. I feel like I’m losing touch with my Japanese side.. I cried buckets last night because of that.. (i know, pathetic)

I think losing your Jap half is better for you
I mean Japanese culture is basically
Japanese AV, prostitution, drawing up hentai (usually 13 year olds getting r*ped by tentacle monsters), denying history (their manslaughter in China), sharking (chopping off the fins, and chucking the living body back in the sea), whaling (causing extinction), and they have a prime minister who visits a shrine that buries r*pists and war criminals, calling them “heroes”
I really don’t know who’s fault it is that Japan is so f*cked up, maybe the nuclear radiation from over 50 years ago?

beg them if you can study in japan while living with a cousin.that will take care of your parents having to pay rent,or just wait and ask them when you finish highschool if you can study in japan , 11 is only 1 year to go no? tell them its good to know many languages opens opportunity for your future

    ???????????????????????????
Don’t feel bad. You are who you are. It’s not going to change. You are better than me if you can speak fluent japanese. I’m still learning it from my sister.
